Free-ky Friday at Dees-neyland

OK, I still owe some Fantasmic! Fridays.

And it's not Friday.
At least I'm posting again!
The current Celebrate Disneyland (and WDW) promotion for 2009 brought to mind a failed Disneyland promotion from 1994 that resulted in Disneyland making public apologies to the Park's cast members, the city of Anaheim, and the Anaheim School District.

Oh, did I mention there was a near riot at the front gate?

It started out as a promotion with KIIS-FM and disc jockey, Rick Dees, that offered free admission to Disneyland if you showed up at Disneyland prior to 8:30 A.M. wearing a costume.

Here's a flier that was given to cast members:

Tomorrow, it's showtime!

Hi, I can't read your flyer, can you enlarge the scan? I think I remember that promotion! Again, welcome back!

Yes, welcome back! I have been checking in every so often to see if you had a new post, so today was a nice surprise!

The employee flier wouldn't open for me either and I would like to read it, because I remember that day very well. I was driving to work that morning and they were announcing it on the radio. I have mentioned that day to other people over the years, but one person had a hard time believing that Disney ever let people in for free and that there was ever a time when they allowed adults to wear costumes into the park. Now I'll have proof!

I've managed to fix the zoom for this post and Saturday's. I'm sure why sometimed the pictures are clickable and sometimes they aren't.

I worked at the park that day and not only was it crowded a lot of the people were really trashy and mean. That is why the cast members received a letter of apology.
